What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a form of treatment for mental health and emotional issues that involves talking with a trained mental health professional. The goal of psychotherapy is to help you understand and cope with your thoughts and feelings, and to make positive changes in your life.

There are many different types of psychotherapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, and others. Most approaches work (because the primary factors in effective therapy are consistent), but it’s important to find a therapist with whom you feel you can have a good working relationship, and whose approach works for you.

During therapy you may talk about your experiences, thoughts, and emotions, including dreams and things that come up during the session.

My Approach

Broadly speaking, my approach combines existential psychotherapy and cognitive behaviour therapy. The former focuses on the deeper aspects of your subjective experience, life and relationships, while the latter provides practical tools for managing thoughts and emotions.
